IFPI re-appoints Concord Music’s Glen Barros and appoints Embassy of Music MD Konrad von Löhneysen to Main Board

IFPI, representing the recording industry worldwide, has announced that Glen Barros, Chief Operating Officer, Concord Music, and Konrad von Löhneysen, managing director of Embassy of Music, have been appointed to its Main Board.

Glen Barros has served on IFPI’s Main Board for six years. Konrad von Löhneysen is appointed to the Board for the first time and will replace Jørn Dalchow, managing director of Norwegian independent record company daWorks, who is stepping down.

Frances Moore, chief executive, IFPI, said: “Glen’s contribution over the past six years has been immeasurable and I’m delighted that we’ll continue to benefit from his insight. We are also very pleased to be able to welcome Konrad who, together with Glen, will bring a wealth of independent record label experience to our Board.

“Thank you also to Jørn for his support and commitment over the last three years. We look forward to continuing to work closely with him.”

Glen Barros added: “It’s been a great privilege to work alongside Frances, the fantastic IFPI team and my fellow board members over the past six years. I’m honoured to have an opportunity to continue this work and to bring an independent perspective to this impressive board.”

Konrad von Löhneysen said: “With the market share of independent labels reaching a record high, I appreciate IFPI’s desire to have a solid representation of independent record company executives on the Main Board. The challenges ahead for independent companies around the globe, which mainly operate regionally, are clearly visible, as most of the retail platforms and DSPs are worldwide and US-led. I am looking forward to bringing additional indie experience to the board in these exciting times.”

Jørn Dalchow said: “It has been three very interesting years serving as a small European indie on IFPI’s Main Board. I will continue my work to support the recording industry as a board member for IFPI in Norway. Konrad is great choice and I wish him good luck for the future.”

Glen Barros joined Concord Music Group in 1995 as its Chief Executive Officer. When Concord Music Group recently merged with The Bicycle Music Company and then acquired Imagem Music Group, the operations of the three entities were merged into one organisation utilising the Concord Music brand. At that time, Glen assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer for the combined organisation. Concord Music is now one of the world’s largest independent music companies, with a leadership role in the development, acquisition, and management of recorded music, music publishing, and theatrical performance rights. With offices in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, London, Berlin, and Cleveland, Concord Music has a diverse and vibrant roster of active recording artists, composers, and songwriters, and a vast and historic catalogue of works by some of the most treasured names in music history.

Konrad von Löhneysen began his music career in 1986 and in 2001 he founded Berlin-based independent music label, Embassy of Music, formerly known as Ministry of Sound Rec. Germany, that he has managed ever since. Konrad also runs Embassy of Sound and Media, Stereo Deluxe Rec. and is also a shareholder in one of Germany’s leading independent digital distribution companies, Zebralution.

Embassy of Music handles both a German and international artist roster that includes or has included artists such as Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Passenger, Bob Sinclar, Moby, Robyn, Björk, Simple Minds, Simply Red and Nena, as well as local artists such as Leslie Clio, Madeline Juno, Kay One, and Ali As.

Jørn Dalchow, managing director of Norwegian independent record company daWorks, was IFPI’s first Norwegian Board representative and is stepping down after three years.
