IFPI announces promotions within its trade, legal & litigation teams

With IFPI’s General Counsel, Jo Oliver, due to depart for a new position at Recorded Music New Zealand in March, IFPI has taken the opportunity to make changes to the structure of its legal and litigation teams.

The move sees the promotion of several long-standing team members with a proven track record of dedication and expertise in improving the trade, policy and legal environment for the music industry around the world.

Lauri Rechardt, currently Director of Licensing and Legal Policy will take on the newly created role of Chief Legal Officer, bringing together the litigation, legal policy and licensing and international trade functions.

Elena Blobel, currently Senior Legal Adviser, will take up the role of Director of Litigation while Patrick Charnley, currently Senior Adviser on legal policy, will take up the role of Director of Legal Policy and Licensing. Xenia Iwaszko, currently Head of International Trade, will become Director of International Trade.

The new structure streamlines the legal function and will create opportunities for greater collaboration in areas where IFPI is working to improve the policy and legal environment for music worldwide.

Frances Moore, IFPI Chief Executive, said: “We wish Jo the very best in her new position in New Zealand and are happy that she will remain within the music industry. In looking to the future, I was aware of the exceptionally talented people we already have in the IFPI team and I am delighted we have been able to recognise this with the creation of these new roles.

“Each has proven to be a true expert in their area of work and brings with them a passion and dedication that I have no doubt will make this newly created team very successful in all they set out to achieve for the industry.”
